Frequently Asked Nutrition Questions:
Should I see a nutritionist vs. a dietitian?
When addressing issues related to diet this is a very legitimate question! The degree of knowledge, experience, and most importantly passion for excellence is not measured by a title alone. The Nutritionist profession is not covered by OHIP like a Registered Dietician however a Nutritionist can and will assist you to address your health and wellness in a similar capacity. A dietician is more likely to follow Canada’s food Guidelines and unlikely to suggest eliminations or dietary change unless warranted by a diagnosed disease state; a general dietary prescription is used, that is backed by available scientific research. Your nutritionist will address bioindividuality and be better able to address diet related-issues based on sensitivities and preferences. Nutritionists are more likely to use alternative therapies to address sensitivities and nutrient deficiencies.
Keren holds a nutrition degree that is accredited by the Dietitians of Canada and has accrued countless hours of real-life, hands-on client coaching beyond textbooks and board exams. In addition, Nutritionists are professionals who are experienced in dealing with the struggles and obstacles that arise when making lifestyle changes.
