With a special interest in women’s health, functional hormonal health & fertility, Dr. Jennah brings a unique brand of naturopathic healthcare to our team.

WOMEN’S NEEDS AT THE HEART

Dr. Jennah graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine with a strong interest in women’s fertility, menstrual, and reproductive health and has always been passionate about teaching women how to love their periods. She firmly believes that connecting with the shifting tides of our own bodies can be incredibly therapeutic. With an undergraduate degree in Nutrition, she has a vast knowledge of how to fuel the female body.

Being a woman navigating the conventional medical system, she has always felt like something was lacking in her own medical experiences. Dr. Jennah admits, “Something as simple as discussing birth control or menstrual health with family doctors over the years felt dismissive, and I’ve always found that many female problems were not treated as “real” problems – in fact, they seemed to be barely worth a discussion. I became a Naturopathic Doctor because I believed that modern feminist healthcare could become a reality.”

BOLD, VIVACIOUS WOMEN

Dr. Jennah states that, “I believe that when a woman is healthy (really healthy), there is absolutely nothing that can stand in her way. I work with weird, wild, and badass women in co-creating their own brand of vitality and brilliance. I understand that women are not simply small men, and believe that we deserve so much more than one size fits all medicine. Your health care should be just as unique as you are. Whether it be slaying PMS symptoms and regulating periods or optimizing energy to grow your side hustle, I work alongside my patients to create an individualized treatment plan that you can truly call your own. I am a demolisher of period cramps, champion of self-care, and a really big fan of talking about menstruation. Above all, I believe that you are worth your own time. Every. Single. Day.”

A COLLABORATIVE PROCESS

Working with hormones and women’s health can be a challenge. It takes time, and the imbalances you’ve been dealing with for most of your adult life unfortunately won’t remedy themselves over night. When women commit to their treatment plan, incredible things happen.

Dr. Jennah has seen individuals experience pain free periods for the first time in years after working with herbal hormone support and regular acupuncture sessions. With her healing hand, she has helped women start menstruating regularly again, after losing their period for the course of almost 16 months while dealing with polycystic ovarian syndrome. Best of all, she has helped individuals struggling with infertility finally fulfill their dreams of becoming parents with a functional approach to their fertility and conception. Her practice is solution driven, and while some things take time and effort, the results are worth it.

HER BACKGROUND

Dr. Jennah graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine with a Doctor of Naturopathy Degree and is a Member in Good Standing with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario (CONO). Adding to her practical abilities, she has additional training in naturopathic fertility support on the Fertility & Reproductive Health Focus Shift at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic 2016-2017 ON, attended the NFH Women’s Health Symposium, 2017 ON, and was the Joyce Vanderburgh Scholarship Recipient. She has also participated in Naturopathic Approaches to Endocrinology– Collaborative Education Conference, 2016 ON, the Association for the Advancement of Restorative Medicine Conference, 2016 ON, Naturopathic Doula Training, 2015 ON, as well as Methylation and Genetics 101, 2017 ON.

DISCONNECTING TO RECONNECT

When asked about her greatest career challenge to date, Dr. Jennah shares that it is, “Learning balance. Being a clinician and an entrepreneur can be hard, but it also allows me to better empathize and understand where my patients are at. We all deal with stress. We all lead busy lives. It’s in navigating my own busy life that I come to appreciate how to help the hard working women of Toronto seek the balance they so often seek when working with an integrative healthcare practitioner.” It is for this reason that she finds ways to find her balance and reconnect to what is important. By visiting farmer’s markets, enjoying a really good cup of coffee and spending time in the woods (she requests “no cell reception or WIFI, please!”) she regains a sense of balance.

Outside of the clinic, she enjoys reading/listening to podcasts about the wild woman movement, talking about the magic of menstruation, and trying/failing to keep my houseplants alive. Even though she is East Coast born and raised, she admits to “beginning to believe that Lake Ontario is just as lovely as the Atlantic Ocean (almost)!”

Spending time on self-care, running, and the benefits of spending time in nature bring her peace. “I recently completed my first half marathon, and it’s been one of the most uplifting and important components of my self-care routine. Full marathon here I come!” It is her path to meet goals, break down barriers, and find the next challenge.
